Michael Alan Gothard (24 June 1939 – 2 December 1992) was an English actor, who portrayed Kai in the television series Arthur of the Britons and the mysterious villain Emile Leopold Locque in the 1981 James Bond film For Your Eyes Only.

Early life

Michael Gothard was born in London in 1939. As a child, he lived in both Wales and London. After leaving Haverstock School, he travelled in France for several months before returning home. He went through various jobs, including building labourer and trainee reporter. He even had a brief spell as a clothes model, but didn't feel comfortable doing that job. Michael Gothard blev født i London i 1939. Efter at han var færdig med skolen, rejste han rundt i Europa, uden nogen særlig plan for, hvad der videre skulle ske i livet. Han forsøgte sig i forskellige erhverv, blandt andet var han bygningsarbejder i en periode. Han tilbragte et år i Paris, på Boulevard Saint-Michel i Latinerkvarteret. Han arbejdede også kort som fotomodel, fordi han var høj, men følte sig aldrig godt tilpas med jobbet. Da han vendte tilbage til England, besluttede han sig for at blive skuespiller.
