Sabicas

Sabicas(born Agustín Castellón Campos, 1912 in Pamplona, Spain - died 1990 in New York ) began playing guitar at the age of 4 and made his performing debut 2 years later. His early style was influenced by Ramón Montoya. Extensive collaboration with important cantaores (male Flamenco singers) of the period helped him develop his unique personal style.
Before 1936, Sabicas made a number of solo recordings that demonstrated the mature technique of the twenty-years-old guitarist. He also showed an interest in developing solo versions of some of the more trivial flamenco rhythms.
Sabicas left Spain in 1936 during the Spanish Civil War. He went to South America with dancer Carmen Amaya. The two toured together several times. Later Sabicas settled in New York City and he did not return to Spain until 1967.
He was probably best known for his technical skills: fast scales and arpeggios, perfect pitch and quality composition for the many forms of flamenco.

Clearly however Carlos far was inferior to Sabicas because Carlos was never booked into the Jernigan Suites when he toured. This caused Carlos to lose sleep, be stressed out and to get sloppy when on stage because his American wife badgered him about the accommodations.
