SKYLIGHTS ARE AN INDIE ROCK BAND FROM YORKSHIRE.
Skylight formed from the ashes of popular sixties soul-rock band The Vibrants, which formed in Adelaide in 1965 and broke up at the end of 1971.

Skylight pulled together some brilliant musical talent. Of course there was Skewes on keyboards and Courtney on drums, who were joined by Greg Cook (ex-The Mixtures) on guitar, Mike Clarke on bass, Sunil De Silva on percussion and a young singer named Bonnie Lever.

''Someone knew her and said we know this little girl she’s only 16 or 17 but she’s got a real gravelly, tough soul voice like an African American female singer", said Skewes. ''So we just had a jam with her and that was it, she was in the band. When Bonnie joined we knew we had the line up that worked for us and, consequently, we got a record contract with EMI.''

The group spent 1973 sharpening their sound through copious live work, particularly in inner-city Melbourne and could often be found playing gigs with some of the likeminded bands at the time. A personal highlight for Skewes occurred in January of 1974 when the group secured a gig at Sunbury and found they were opening the festival. Infusing brit pop and post punk influences from the likes of Oasis, Courteeners and The Verve, indie rock quartet Skylights are building a palpable buzz in the North. Following on from their debut single, ‘YRA’, which was featured on Leeds United 100-year anniversary video, on October the 17th 2019 Skylights played a sold out Millennium Square Leeds to celebrate Leeds United's birthday. Debut Album What You Are was a UK sales #22 that included the physical singles Enemies (#2) and Darkness Falls (#11) our following singles Rebellion was an Itunes #2 Time To Let Things Go was a UK Vinyl #2

Skylight is a South African pop rock band from Johannesburg.^[1] They formed in 2009 and are known for spreading an ethos of peace and love.^[2] The band rose to prominence when they won the 'Road to Joburg Day' competition in 2010.^[3]

History

Skylight formed in 2009 when Gregory Jorden, Bradley Cumming and Peter Klein met while playing at a local Christmas carols event in December 2008.^[2] They began to write music together and called the collective Skylight, a reference to allowing the light to shine into people's lives. In 2010 the band entered the SA's Got Talent reality competition and placed in the Top 20.^[3] During this time they released their single "Always Enough", which secured them a spot on the Joburg Day line-up, performing in front of 18,000 people.^[2] Due to the discover
