Anne trenning biography

There is an organic quality to Anne Trenning’s music that derives from her love of nature and the world around us. She has a deep respect for rural lifestyles. She believes strongly in the importance of family and tradition. History is another fascination, reflected by her penchant for antiques and old homes. Her love for the past also is evident in the traditional sounds of acoustic instruments found throughout her recordings. Anne, who is an avid reader of all genres of literature, feels strongly about passing on knowledge. When not writing, recording, or performing, she teaches piano performance.

Trenning lives in Charlotte, North Carolina. She was raised in the Chicago suburb of Barrington, Illinois, where she began playing the organ at age seven. She remembers “learning lots of sheet music from the Big Band era.” When she was 12, Trenning shifted her focus to playing piano. Church and choir also shaped her earliest musical memories. Her father encouraged practicing and a love of four-part harmony by paying her a dollar for every hymn she learned to play from a Presbyterian h

Anne Trenning has released her new single, which in fact is an oldie-goldie from the closet of after-graduation-compositions and the piece carries the beautiful mixture of exuberance and contemplation that every youth is full of.

It’s a passionate dedication to the influence of these three great musicians and composers whom she admires: Felix Mendelssohn, Frédéric Chopin, and Sergei Rachmaninoff.

The song begins with a powerful introduction before it goes into descriptive hand-movements on the piano. The piece shows the charm and mark of their music styles, but there is a creative element of a heart jostling with the muscle-memory of the fingers.

What I like in Anne’s music is the intention–it is free of fanfare an

Happy Holidays! Dan Fogelberg’s beautiful and reflective composition “Same Auld Lang Syne” receives an update with a “3/4 waltz meter,” a new arrangement, and also a short sample from “River” by Joni Mitchell entwined. This video was beautifully imagined by the talented animator and artist Caroline Palmer.

Here’s to saying farewell to another year. May we work together to recognize our common humanity and treat everyone with compassion. Happy New Year to friends near and far. May joy fill your heart today and each day going forward. #2021

Reviews

Taking her cue from legendary rock composer Dan Fogelberg and Waltz King Johann Strauss, contemporary pianist Anne Trenning refreshes the same old same old with her new rendition of Same Auld Lang Syne. The new version has a bit more momentum and has a nostalgic twist that makes you want to listen time after time and build new memories. It is appropriate for the holidays, but a great song is good any time. This is a great song.
