His humble beginnings: Pablo Logro known as Chef Boy arguably one of the most popular chefs in the country. He didn’t start as a kitchen prodigy from the get-go. He was born in Biliran, Leyte to a fisherman and a housewife, Chef boy lived a simple, albeit impoverished life. He finished primary school but never got a high school diploma because his parents could no longer afford to do so. With his desire of going to school, he worked as a houseboy in a Chinese restaurant in downtown Quiapo. Chef Boy later left the country to work as a sous chef for His Majesty Sultan Qaboos bin Said al Said of Oman. As the Sultan’s personal chef, he travelled the world, soaking in all the culinary knowledge. When he came back to the country, he started out as the sous chef of the Manila Diamond Hotel in 1992. And eventually he gain the distinction of Executive Chef in 1995, the first Filipino to do so for a five-star luxury hotel. Pablo Logro, also known as Boy Logro or Chef Boy (born June 29, 1954), is a Filipinocelebrity chef known for his cooking shows, Idol sa Kusina and Chef Boy Logro: Kusina Master.[1][2]

Early and personal life

Logro was born into a fishing family in Davao City in the Philippines; he is the second son in a brood of eight.

Logro first worked in Cagayan de Oro for 2 years, before becoming a member of the service crew of several Jollibee restaurants in Manila. He later became a sous chef at Qaboos bin Said al Said's Al Alam Palace[3] which took him to international trips, in turn exposing Logro to international cuisines. He was also able to complete culinary training in Italy, Switzerland, Spain and the United Kingdom.[4]

Logro became an executive chef at the Manila Diamond Hotel.[4] His Favorite lines in cooking are Ping, ping, ping! and Yum, yum, yum!.
