Acting Career and 'Hogan's Heroes'
BOB CRANE was born in Waterbury, Connecticut, on July 13, 1928, to parents Alfred Thomas and Rosemary (Senich) Crane. He had one older brother, Alfred John. He was married twice, first to Anne Terzian (1949-1969) and then to Patricia Olson (1970-1978). He was the father of four children; three with Anne (son Robert David, and daughters Deborah Ann and Karen Leslie), and one with Patty (son Robert Scott). Bob and Patty also adopted a daughter, Ana Marie.
Although born in Waterbury, around 1930, Bob’s family moved to Stamford, Connecticut, where he and his older brother, Alfred John, grew up. The Cranes moved around often during the 1930s through the early 1940s. They left Connecticut briefly in the mid-1930s, when Bob’s father found work at a department store in Poughkeepsie, New York. But the Cranes returned to Stamford in 1936. Bob graduated from Stamford High School in 1946. Robert Edward Crane[1] (July 13, 1928 – June 29, 1978) was an American actor, drummer, radio personality and disc jockey known for starring in the CBSsitcomHogan's Heroes.
Crane was a drummer from age 11,[2] and began his entertainment career as a radio personality, beginning in Hornell, New York and later in Connecticut. He then moved to Los Angeles, where he hosted the number-one rated morning radio show. In the early 1960s, Crane moved into acting, eventually landing the lead role of Colonel Robert Hogan in Hogan's Heroes. The series aired from 1965 to 1971, and Crane received two Emmy Award nominations.
Crane's career declined after Hogan's Heroes. He became frustrated with the few roles that he was being offered and began performing in dinner theater. In 1975 he returned to television with the NBC series The Bob Crane Show, but the series received poor ratings and was cancelled afte
