My interview with actor Peter Jacobson (House, Colony, Ray Donovan & The Americans)

Peter Jacobson is an American actor. He has enjoyed much success for his portrayal of Dr. Chris Taub on the series House. He is currently starring as Proxy Snyder on Colony and recently joined the cast of The Americans as Agent Wolfe. Peter was a delight to chat with and very funny.

PC: You were born in Chicago, a fourth-generation American with close ties to the Jewish community?

PJ: I was born in Chicago. Born and raised. Most of my family came over from Eastern Europe, not in the Ellis Island years (the turn of the 20th century), but mid to late 19th century; they came from Russia and Ukraine, and I think Lithuania. I’m sure those ancestors had ties to their Jewish communities in Europe. And I’m sure when my family came here they were, like most Jews that immigrated to the US, deeply connected to their Jewish roots. But my parents were not religious, so I grew up not feeling very connected.

Peter Jacobsonis the actor who has portrayed Chris Taub, House's fellow since Season 4. He is the son of Chicago news anchor Walter Jacobson.

A graduate of Julliard, Jacobson has over fifty television and screen credits to his name, starting with an episode of NYPD Blue in 1993. Prior to joining the cast of House, his greatest successes have come in legal dramas - he appeared three times as Randy Dworkin, a talented defence counsel who was almost always a thorn in the side of ADA Jack McCoy on Law & Order, and as "Yarmulke" Jake Weisman on In Justice. Since his debut on House, he has had featured roles in What Just Happened? and Cars 2. Jacobson also starred in medical sitcom series Scrubs in the episode 'My Big Bird' as the patient Mr Foster.

A much-employed character actor, Peter Jacobson got steady quality work both in feature films and on television. The son of Chicago news anchor Walter Jacobson, Peter Jacobson made his first appearance on television and in the movies in supporting roles as a reporter--on a 1993 episode of "NYPD Blue" and in the romantic comedy "It Could Happen to You" the following year. It's a part Jacobson returned to when he was cast as Artie Green in Billy Crystal's excellent 2001 baseball docudrama, "61*." He continued racking up guest appearances on "Spin City," "Oz," and "Law & Order" along with supporting parts in the films "Conspiracy Theory," "Deconstructing Harry," and "As Good as It Gets," where he shared a table with future "House M.D." castmate Lisa Edelstein.
