The gifted Emmy Kosgei was born on 22nd July, 1980 in Kelelwa, Mogotio, Koibatek District to the highly acclaimed cleric Bishop Jackson Kosgei and Rose Kosgei.

She started singing at a tender age at her local church and started recording collaborations in high school and at church with Maximum gospel singers.

A devout Christian, she attributes her success to her faith in God whom she describes as the pillar of her strength. In her musical life, she has been inspired by her parents, singers Esther Wahome, Rebecca Malope, Keke and Miriam Makeba.

Emmy Kosgei describes her musical style as richly African with melodious instrumentals and inspiring messages which minister to her audiences. She started recording with her first album “Katau Banda” in 2005 which was followed by “Kaswech” and then “Taunet”.
