Karnataka Chief Minister BS Yediyurappa has resigned once again from his post – twice in little more than three years – amid rumors of his exit. With this, he has joined the overwhelming number of Karnataka Chief Ministers who resigned prior to their term’s completion. Only three Chief Ministers have completed their term in the office and all of them belong to Indian National Congress: S Nijalingappa (from 1962 to ’68 for almost 6 years), D Devaraja Urs (from 1972 to ’77) and Siddaramaiah (from 2013 to ’18).
The last Chief Minister before the unification of Mysore, Kadidal Manjappa, resigned from his post on October 31, 1956, a day before the unified state of Mysore was formed (the state of Mysore was renamed ‘Karnataka’ in 1973).
The first Chief Minister of unified Mysore S Nijalingappa resigned in 1958 after taking oath in 1956. He was again elected Chief Minister in 1962 where he would complete his tenure. SR Kanthi, the third Chief Minister of the unified state of Mysore, held the office for a very brief period of 98 days, before handing over the position to Nijalingapp

Kadidal Manjappa Ministry was the Council of Ministers in Mysore, a state in South India headed by Kadidal Manjappa[1] of the Indian National Congress.
The ministry had multiple ministers including the Chief Minister of Mysore.[2] All ministers belonged to the Indian National Congress.
Kadidal Manjappa became Chief Minister of Mysore after resignation of Kengal Hanumanthaiah.[3] Manjappa resigned as Chief Minister of Mysore following Unification of Karnataka.

Kadidal Manjappa – A true Gandhian
The third Chief Minister of Karnataka or Mysore State as it was known then, was Kadidal Manjappa. Born in 1908, Manjappa was a freedom fighter who chose to live by Gandhi’s ideals. Kadidal Manjappa served as Mysore state’s Chief Minister from 19th of August 1956 to 31st October 1956. S. Nijalingappa succeeded Manjappa as Chief Minister.
Personal Life of Kadidal Manjappa
Hailing from a small village, Harogolige of Shivamogga (Shimoga) district, Manjappa rose far above the village as a freedom fighter. He graduated from the Maharaja College in Mysore and also has a law degree from Poona Law College.
Manjappa was a thinker who had a way with words. Besides being a freedom fighter and a politician, he was an author. He is the author of three novels and an autobiography titled “Nanasagada Kanasu” (An unfulfilled dream).
